The element brochure offers students the opportunity to be creative, conduct research, practice parenthetical documentation, use technology skills, and learn about an element on the Periodic Table.
Minimum Requirements for Research

- 1 book (textbook included)
- 1 Website (I recommend www.webelements.com)
- 1 resource of your choice
Advanced Researchers use these resources…
- Periodic Tales book… a copy is in Ms. Manhart’s room
- Phenomenal website:
- In the top corner should be aYELLOW box which says “VIEW ALL ENTRIES”. You can choose one from the same FAMILY as your element.
Annotations for your Sources
For each source, you will need to add an annotation.
- My source is useful because it helped me understand….
- It helped me complete the ______________ requirement of my element brochure.
Please be certain you are citing your pictures and content appropriately. We will use the Media Center’s helpful citation sheets and also the very wonderful www.noodletools.com.
Sharing your Resources
Use Noodletools:
- Sign on as: science class for the user name
- password: sciencerules
- Use your class period + your name as the name for the new list. For example: 3 Jennings
- Due Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
Content Requirements
- 2 family (group) facts + family name (Family name such as Carbon Family, Halogens, etc.)
- interesting facts about your element
- basic facts such as atomic number, atomic mass, number of protons, etc.
- 2 clever advertisements related to the science of how your element is used
- uses of your element
